Far more options are available to students today. Students can expect to have many careers and possibly even return to school for additional education/training between careers. There are several helpful websites to assist students in planning their future: myBlueprint, WorkBC, Education Planner BC and BC Dogwood Planner.
myBlueprint is a comprehensive cloud-based education and career/life planning program with many of the tools students need to make the most informed decisions about their futures. Yukon Education supports this service for all secondary students. School counsellors or principals can provide students with access information.
WorkBC is a fabulous resource to explore career options. Under each career, a job description, job requirements, work related skills, duties, work environment, earnings and outlook, and workforce and employment statistics are listed. Several of the careers also have a video clip of someone currently working in the field. Visit the WorkBC website for more information.
Education Planner BC is rich with information about what post-secondary programs in BC best suit a student’s career goals. It is loaded with information to help plan and apply for post-secondary programs offered in BC. Visit the Education Planner BC website for more information.
BC Dogwood Planner provides timelines and checklists to assist students with planning out their Grade 12 year. Download the BC Dogwood Planner PDF.
